.......Selling your home is supposed to be a stressful time – or so everybody says.
Prior to appointing an agent we “interviewed” several local estate agents in the Castle Hill area, and unfortunately we were not impressed. The agents made what appeared to be hollow promises, insisted on expensive and probably worthless advertising campaigns, ( that we would have to pay for) and ensured us that “open homes” would be the best method.
So it was with a great sense of relief that we interviewed our final prospective agent, Garry Morris of David Russell Real Estate.
His ideas for selling our home matched ours exactly. Garry believed in a simple campaign, with internet advertisements placed at the agency’s cost, inspection by appointment only, and a fixed price for the home.
Despite the challenging market they used their exceptional negotiating skills to achieve $15,000 more for our home than we had accepted.
Truly this was a case of under-promising and over-delivering.
To anyone considering selling their home, be warned against slick sales presentations, glossy brochures, egotistical signboards and expensive advertising. .......... When we decided to sell our property, we looked at five different real estate agents. From the onset, David Russell Real Estate stood out with professionalism and excellent previous results. They were also the only agent in the hills area to be recommended by the Jenman Group.
Throughout the entire process, David Russell Real Estate, were fantastic in their efforts with selling our home. They were ethical in their dealings with us (and the buyers) and we know they had our best interest at heart form beginning to end.

........ I would like to extend my sincere thanks, I had my home listed for sale with a very prominent local agency for five months, before changing selling agents to David Russell Real Estate. During the five months, there were no serious offers on the house, and I kept hearing the usual excuses about the ‘market’. I ended up dropping the sale price of the house four times over that period, still without any offers.
I would hear that potential buyers would complain about things like the size of the bedrooms, the steepness of the driveway, the lack of a new kitchen etc. Of course the agent had a good look at the home before listing it, and these “issues” were present at the time the agent valued the home. I realise these “issues” were no issues at all, the agent would use these “buyers’ complaints” to try and force me to reduce my selling price. I would often receive a phone call within days of the contract about to expire with promises (which, now, I am certain were lies) about a buyer who has just seen the home and is interested, hence I would extend the sale agreement by one month at a time. Many times I regretted doing this, and would say to myself no more extensions”. I hated the pressure put on me by these agents, after all, I was supposed to be employing them!!
After five months of this nonsense, without one firm offer on the home, I decided to change agencies to David Russell Real Estate on the advice of my husband who has dealt with them before. Within three days of signing the agreement, Garry found a buyer who signed up.
The agents at David Russell Real Estate clearly understood the experience I had been through, having indeed seen it many times. They rapidly restored my belief that my home was indeed in demand.
I feel sorry that David Russell Real Estate may be classed by the public as ‘just another’ real estate faction. They are unique and I have never come across an Agent I could trust until now.
I have had multiple experiences with Real Estate Agents in the past from several different agencies, both as a buyer and a seller. I have never met a group of Agents like the team at David Russell Real Estate Castle Hill.
